The mission, vision, and values of diaspora women are in harmony with multiple aspects of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was unanimously adopted by 193 Heads of State and other prominent leaders at the United Nations.
In the initial three years of its action plan, diaspora women will primarily concentrate on advancing the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 1: No Poverty
Our goal is to economically empower women in the diaspora. By fostering entrepreneurial spirit and financial independence among women in diaspora, our organisation plays a role in reaching financial equity in our societies. Additionally, empowered women contribute to economic development, reducing the prevalence of poverty in their communities.
SDG 5: Gender Equality
Our mission centres on the recognition and empowerment of diaspora women, acknowledging their distinctive strengths within the intersectionality of gender, culture, and migration.
SDG 13: Climate Action
Women in diaspora often bear the brunt of climate change impacts. Simultaneously, their traditional practices will provide a wealth of resources for environmentally friendly actions. We concentrate on spotlighting, promoting, and disseminating the environmentally conscious actions and practices of diaspora women.
Our objectives and initiatives are intricately linked with the following SDGs:
SDG 4: Quality Education
The cultivation of cultural appreciation and understanding within diaspora women aligns with the overarching objective of achieving quality education. This effort nurtures an environment fostering mutual respect and collaboration by facilitating the exchange of cultural knowledge.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
The emphasis on intersectional empowerment and the celebration of diverse cultures, aiming to diminish inequalities within and among countries.
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Creating a vibrant space for diaspora women and promoting cultural appreciation actively contributes to the establishment of inclusive and sustainable communities.
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
The advocacy for sustainable economic activities, eco-friendly practices, and the promotion of responsible consumption is geared towards ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns.
SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
Our dedication to global solidarity and the fostering of connections underscores the vital role of partnerships and collaborations in achieving the sustainable development goals, particularly in building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions.
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
The promotion of inclusivity in leadership and advocating for diaspora women in leadership roles contributes to the broader objective of establishing effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.
